Thank you to the adventurers of this land that came with me to save my people from captivity. Some of you I had met before, and some I had not, but when I asked for aid, you answered. I thank you from the bottom of my heart and the depths of my spirit. Because of your assistance we rescued forty one of my cousins, many of them children, from cages and from torture. The pirate captain however escaped, although due to the actions of one of our own, he had to do so by killing blow rather than spirit walk. The ship has been burned and the cave is no longer accessible and my thanks to the individual who assisted me with that task as well.
But now I have a plea. In the time betwen our first attack on the ship and the second, they were able to remove not only all of the forged merchandise and coin, but also the crafters of my people. I don't have an estimate at this time of numbers but of one family where three were captured, two were still missing. We saved the hostages, which means the slavers no longer have victims to threaten to ensure the work of the crafters. I don't know what means they will resort to, but all of them will be very bad, particularly for my kind. We still need to rescue them and stop the slavers. I cannot do it on my own, my fellow cousins who are adventurers are not enough to take on this task. We need your help, yet again.
And also again in a smaller but important task, we need to protect the townsfolk who would speak up for the Mystics. This pirate had been operating for years, and the people were too afraid of retribution to speak up. They need to know that they will be protected if they come to the guilds and adventurers and the people in charge of keeping them safe. Because they felt threatened, they let the slavers take Mystic Wood Elves. Again, though smaller than the first this task is too big for me. This has to be accomplished as a town.
May you find open roads before you and clear skies above you, as I hope soon my cousins will once again,
Bliss Ahora

This is adorable,
Congratulations on saving 41 pieces of dead weight. It doesn't matter you know, you can't protect them all. I know where every one of them is and they are still a part of my incentive program.
I do take umbrage at the slavers comment. none of the craftsman that work for me are slaves, they have all volunteered to provide a service for me. Of course accidents happen and, like all large scale operations, we loose a few people. For instance the terrible loss of Persionee. Such a lovely Mystic, she was innocently holding onto one of my possessions when one of your companions walked into my circle of protection to steal from me and kicked her over causing a chain reaction. I could not save her in time and now all that is left is ash. Poor little Rin, you should tell him his mommy did resurrect successfully in the circle I told her to go to. She is back in my care along with his sister and I assure you they are receiving the same care I show all of my guests.
You have too much faith in your fellow adventurers Bliss. They do not care about the common people, there is no money in it. Adventurers are closer to me than they will ever admit. The people will not trust you, and even if they start to I will shatter that illusion of safety and they will go back to keeping their mouths shut when they are told.
My plan will continue, I have not lost any time. I do however owe death a few things and I think I have just the right 2 mystics to meet that debt. Best tell Rin to make peace with being an orphan.
Yours Truly, Captain Harlin

Bliss,
All gentle creatures are safe within the walls of the Healer's Guild of Caladore. If anyone needs to seek refuge or asylum they need but ask.
The captain is mistaken if he thinks gold matters to me. I have enough. He is not the only one that knows death and knows how to bargain. The captain is right on one account, adventures are closer to him than they care to admit, he should be afraid that I do admit it. I have not come to negotiate on this matter, leave our citizens alone or be dispatched, the choice is his. While you have called for friends in high places to help you Bliss, the captain should be more afraid of my friends in low places. He may never see my face, but he should always be afraid of the shadow in the corner of his eye.
Captain,
I have had a rough week, so excuse my bluntness.
Did you misplace some papers? Are you sure they are all so very afraid of you? Who serves your food, who brings you your clothes, who makes your bed and tucks in your sheets, who surrounds you while you sleep? Are you so very sure all of them are yours? Do you think you haven't pushed any of them to psychotic break? Do you recognize all their faces? See anyone new? See your most trusted servant? I do not play by the rules sir and my words have moved a man's heart to war. If it is money that moves you and your men, I know how to bribe like you, but my offers are much more appealing. I realize you are not afraid of our swords and you think we will not rally an army against you. You should be afraid of my mind and singularly me. Leave my citizens alone. This is your final warning. If I were you I would start running now and not look back.
Sincerely,
Lady Keeva Warhouse

My dear Lady Keeva
You know as well as I do that the role of the weak is to be led and used as tools for those who have the strength and intelligence to lead. Common people if left to their ow devices would destroy themselves and Tyra along with them. I am merely using the tools I have to accomplish a dream and the people that are not worthy to share in that dream are used and discarded as any other tool would be.
I am using the mystics because they have proven to be a particularly weak breed and have been gifted with a certain set of skills I can take advantage of. Weakness craves leadership and discipline, surely you have seen it in your travels. If it were not for people like adventures what town would be left standing? How much of this land would be overrun with horrors? These common people owe each and every one of you everything. I am just collecting my due.
I know in time you will see I am right. Your people do not deserve your protection they deserve your leadership. Give them a purpose for breathing and demand obiediance, they will be happier for it.
Yours truly Captain Harlin

M'captain,
I may but a humble Guardian of the Long Road, but I know enough to recognize your bluffs and lies for what they are.
No matter what duress you put Persionee under, you could never dictate where she'd resurrect. I've personally resurrected escaped slaves from entirely different kingdoms, as it was the closest circle their spirit could trust.
If you claim to know the location of all 23 of my nieces and nephews we un-nailed from the floor of your ship, and the 12 men and 6 women we dug out of their graves, you either have a network of spies and informants so great that even the Black Rose drools with jealousy, or you are expending so much time and energy scrying on every one of them. In case of the former, you should be well aware that you spread yourself too thin, and in the latter... then you already know what I am capable of doing to you.
You claim you've made a deal with Death. By which name does he allow you to call him? Mortis? Grimm? Abbadon? Abyss? Seeing as how Elandrin and I are responsible for so so many of his personal possessions once again among the living, I do believe I have two far superior gifts he'd prefer. Your threats no not frighten me. I have torn my own spirit asunder, seperating the Tyrran and Fae halves, forcing each to walk out of it's respective graveyard. There is nothing you could do to me I've not already walked through myself.
Again, I am but a humble Guardian of the Long Road, but know that I will personally walk you into the Graveyard of the Four winds myself, whether or not I return. This is my duty to my family, and to all Tyrrans. My apprentices will take my place, who will take yours?
With all due respect, Andante con Piu Brio Bard of Roadsguide

"Captain" who is missing a ship,
I have not titles, nor fantastic skills, nor magical powers. And yet I know that if my cousins desired your "leadership" you wouldn't have had to kidnap their families, and threaten their children to make them work for you. You're nothing but a coward who targets children and crafters because he can't threaten anyone more well armed, or skilled.
But if I have any say in what happens to you before you meet Death, I have an arrow that belongs to you, that I wish to return, with interest. And a handful of nails that I found somewhere, I think they're yours also. And then you're going to burn. And once it is clear what happens to those who torture children, who kidnap my cousins from their homes and hold them captive, I really don't care what they do with you. The ones who actually have power will take care of you from there.

I apologize for the delay on my response I had two pressing matters to attend to. I hope that you enjoyed the keepsake I sent you Bliss and Wayward.
To Adante, I think, while apparently extremely knowledgeable, you over complicate things. Doing what I do is easier than you would think and requires no advanced or arcane magics, ,nor large network of spies, though I do keep a few little birds around I won't lie. I also don't believe taking things from death and then boasting about it endears you to him. In fact I would be careful, I am telling you out of genuine concern for your well being. I was also glad to hear your other half was Faye and not goat, I felt a little bad for you when I thought you were a horrible mutation.
To Bliss, You have so much anger, I understand you hate me, but really you should focus all of that rage into more productive pursuits. Don't you know that if you dedicate your life to revenge you are digging two graves? Seriously I do not see this ending well for you but ultimately the heart wants what the heart wants.
To all others, I think perhaps we may have gotten off on the wrong foot here. Sure some of the things I am doing may seem harsh or even terrible, but there is things going on that lie outside your understanding at this moment. Perhaps if you were to give it time and patience you would see that I am not such a bad person, that ultimately I have the adventurers best interests at heart. Time will tell but if you give me a chance, I don't think you will be disappointed.
Sincerely Captain Harlin

Whenever I hear anyone arguing for slavery, I feel a strong impulse to see it tried on him personally.
