Dear Calidoreians It has come to my attention that you've been having problems with a certain lizard as of late, so I figured as it is the holiday season I'd offer up some information. An old seer told me of a legend where a great green dragon sought to attain insurmountable power. It would devour the spirits of any and all beings it could find, save for its servants. When all seemed lost a brave Spirit Reaper from west of the Dragon's Blood River who happened to be traveling through a local city heard of this monster and set out to defeat it. The Reaper set out to the cave were the dragon was hiding and challenged the beast to a duel. As starlight glistened over the snow, the two engaged in combat. The battle was great but it appeared the Reaper would lose, when suddenly he transformed into a warrior of incredible strength and prowess. His sword swung true and with one stroke cleaved the great dragon in two. Maybe that will be useful to you, maybe not. Either way, that is my gift to you adventuring few of Calidore.

People keep using the term "Spirit Reaper" without elaborating on what it means. Would you consider doing so?

I know of a spirit reaper from west of the river, and he is quite likely one of the most pathetic adventurers I've seen in the thousands of years that I have existed. Even the djinn-wolf that shares my mind is more competent than that reaper. I think your seer friend backlashed a dreamvision.

I'm sure glad I don't need to worry about this personal business of Rom's that is definitely not going to be a threat to anyone. Otherwise referring to himself as The Old One and deleting his post explaining what went on in the tavern might seem like warning signs that someone should be paying attention to.

The handwriting is different. I've had other spirits use my body to write before. It really isn't terribly concerning if it's consensual. As far as I am aware Rom is not being unwillingly possessed nor even truly possessed as far as my skills have told, unless things have changed.
I don't know what deleting is, but anyone can tear postings down from a tree.
As for the above, we do not need to fight Shayron in some sort of mad suicidal duel, we do need to finish things with him. He knows this and so do we.

It matters not by what name we go. As we continue to change, our name loses its accuracy. Your name reminds us of one of those tiny chickens. Cornix game hen! Words are just names, and our former moniker holds not meaning to us anymore. While the djinn-wolf sleeps, we run free. We are coming out to play this Celestial Celebration!

Oh, I see.
We probably need to fix him. Things have, indeed, changed.

No, deliberate choice of words. Not your body, and without clear consent, not acceptable.

This is very much so our body. Unfortunately, the last mentalist to try to see into our mind went insane. Better luck to the next one.

I'm not a mentalist and I'd put Jorim up against anything you can dish out.
Demonstrate that this is consensual and then we can talk. Why you're picking fights, instead of being smart and trying to avoid notice, I don't know. But clearly fixing Rom is now on the list.

Maison, to answer your original question, the only Spirit Reapers I know of are those that work for Death, who guide spirits to the Graveyards on the Plane of Death. I myself am one such creature. I am not sure if that is what the legend is referring to or not. While I do not presently know of any other Spirit Reapers adventuring in the area, I would suspect that the legend is not referring to me. I am not a great, seasoned adventurer. I have power, but undoubtedly not enough to stand up to a dragon, although I would gladly defend this town. Hopefully this helps.

Nulem,
You're misinformed, as I did not write the above question.
I guide spirits to the graveyards but do not work for Death, nor never will. It's my calling not my enslavement as creatures of Death are.
That said, the fable told above is not relevant to Shayron and our current situation.

Fair enough. I will not get into a debate about the planes, as I suspect neither of us would be willing to change our views. And I was not sure if it was still relevant or not. My apologies.

There's nothing to debate.
Shayron has told us himself what needs done, and he has gotten what he desired in the meantime. But he's neither a dragon, nor should anyone ever fight one solo.
Fighting dragons is just a one way trip to an Obliterate nap anyway.
