*** Teaser for the "Festival of the Dead Event" 2017 / 617 ***
Autumn has come late to Dragonreach this year, 617. The civil war many months ended and the threat of the void staved off, the good people seek a reprieve. Not only does the month of October herald a changing in the color of the foliage and the scents of the seasons, but also the coming of those who otherwise do not roam about the rest of the year. Suffice it to say that it is a very “free spirited” time and the threat of undead at the coming market faire is naught.
Bards across the land have spoken of the coming Festival of the Dead in Caladore proper! As is the many yeared tradition, there shall be contests and feasting to honor those long passed...as well as those yet to fully pass on...who will likely also be in attendance…
The voices of excited children speaking of the festival details are heard up and down the streets of town,
“Make sure to bring sharp, sharp knives so that you may carve the best pumpkin in the land! It is the best way to keep the spirits at bay!”
“Make sure to bring the best treats in all of the land to share with adventurers and spirits alike! It is the best way to keep the spirits in good spirits!”
“Make sure to bring your most fantastic costumes and masks so that you can confuse the spirits. It is the best way to enjoy the Saturday feasting!”
It is surely to be a time of friends, revelry, good food & ale, and of course reminiscent adventuring stories being told around the fire. Perhaps The Storyteller himself may return to town again. It has been many years now, after all...
Alas, as is often the case in the most peaceful times, evil has merely rescinded from the view of the adventurers in Caladore. Even on the brightest day shadows do form beneath the smallest leaf. Forces of a particular ilk are begotten by events of a tumultuous nature and often thrive in times of recovery. Much like the trials of a Knight, things are not always what they seem.
