Hi All,
I want to remind everyone I am not calling anyone out just going over the rules so that we are all playing on the same field. It is important that we discuss the rules so please bring up your questions and thoughts on these or anything else you saw this weekend. 90% of the game is super fun and easy. There are just a few situations now and then that get confusing. I, along with hopefully you, get a lot of knowledge out of discussing the rules and solidifying the correct rules in my mind. Repetition is the best way to learn something. Even if you are new and were confused about something this weekend that seems like everyone knows; I guarantee you that at least one other person would benefit from you bringing it up here and discussing it.
___
Physical Strike <effect> is like a Spell Strike or Massive in that if it hits you cannot block it with your shield or weapon. A Magic Armor will stop a Physical Strike as well as parry, dodge, appropriate racial skills, Bane/Cloaks, etc...
Carrier attacks in the format “# normal <effect>”. You need to take the effect only when you have taken body damage. So you can block it with weapons and shields. When you do get hit your armor protects you from the carrier attack as well.
Berserk is not a charm effect.
Enslavement is not removed by death, you need to resurrect or get the specific antidote. Also the break charm ability can remove it per the new racial rules.
Voice Command X-race: When you hear “Voice Command X-race to do Y” this acts the same as enslavement in how you go about completing the command. As this is not super standard it would be up to the local chapter on how you go about negating the command.
Magic Deliverance Cantrip: Only requires that you be able to speak. You can use it while bound.
Spell and Alchemy Disruption: Both are subject to disruption if the “caster” takes body damage while in the process of “casting” and throwing the packet. If the caster has armor (Physical/Arcane/Dex/Shield/Bless/etc…) or the skill Focus (cast in body) then the call “Armor” or “Focus” is required to called after the incant. This can be found in the Errata. This call is not part of the incant and can be said after the packet is thrown.
Being dragged/picked up and dropping items: When you are unconscious/dying/etc… and being dragged your arms and hands should go limp. That means alchemy, weapons, possibly shields, scrolls and any handheld items should fall out of your hands.
Dragging/picking someone up is not a three count. It requires both of your hands to be free and a call like “I am carrying you” or “I pick you up.” It takes as long as it takes for the player to stand up. If either person is struck with an effect the person is dropped.
