THE GOOD
Amazing roleplay all around! Between watching the subtle political nuances between the Baron and the Duchess, the reactions of people when a series of bad things happened to me in game, and the Yetis just looking for food, it was awesome.
The fighting contest was a lot of fun to both watch and participate in. It was extraordinarily lengthy at the expense of other tournaments, so maybe next time the Baron could delegate townsmembers to run and judge contests and he could walk around and survey things?
The atmosphere was very appropriate, from the way the tables were set up to the schedule to the Duchess' visit to the gift exchange, it really felt like one big party. I know lots of people love fighting and mods, but I loved the interactions and ambience.
The food! Both the kitchen and the food contest! Great job, everyone! Huzzah!
THE BAD
You don't have enough awesome costumes for some of the more frequent and/or important NPCs. Someone really needs to get on that. Does anyone need Goblin Points? You pay for the materials, I'll sew it, we split the Gobbos... Plot, get me a wish list, please!
I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty disappointed about how the food contest went down. There were good intentions all around and some serious miscommunication. I definitely support everyone being rewarded in some way, but I'm not sure the logistics were thought through... BUT I see this as an in game issue and not one that plot created. I was, however, sad that several other contests that were promoted never happened either, two of which I extensively prepared for.
THE UGLY
One PC continuously dropped OOC with me and I actually asked them 7 times to not discuss OOG stuff with me during a crucial conversation. This PC also complained that something that was overheard by them was meant OOG. First, poor form. Second, don't say something out loud at an event that is supposed to be a secret. I'm not a metagamer, however, that creates complicated and stupid scenarios to muddle through.
**********
Overall, I had a fantastic time at the event. While I was bummed I didn't get to do some things, I was definitely never bored and there was some amazingly delicious politics (and drama). Bravo!
