Manifold and stuff... Rules Questions

I am trying to brush up on the new (to me) spells.

Empathetic Healing - Healer incants and takes the sleep from someone - if I have a racial resist I can use it, but other than that no other defenses I have up will work (shield magic, magic items, dodge, phase, etc.) Just racials.

Example: Vampire Charm on Bandista - I cast empathetic healing on him - take it and resist charm?? Bandista stops beating on Grogg. Keeva then beats him for staring at a vampire.

I have yet to see anyone in game use Manifold, does anyone find this line of magic useful?? Is there anyone that has used it and could talk to me about it a bit more? I would like to learn about it. I think it is mostly battle preparation magic - you cast hearth on the circle then before battle, I would bring my friends in the circle and buff them all . Like I said I have never seen it used... Or I could see it used for town battle ... like the way we use AoE in WoW - everyone comes back to the circle 5 people are in I cast cure mort - they are all healed and run back to the front lines. I think this seems useful for large battles in large towns - or towns with a shortage of earth scholars. I'd like to hear from someone who has used it though.

yes all of these are valid and Manifold can not only be usefull but hilarious depending on your lyrics

Manifold is used to give a group a people the same spell while using up only one spell slot. I've only seen it used when I was on a team. The mainfolder could cast buff spells on the entire team (six people at the time) and only use up one spell slot. Our team healer cast Poison Shield on the six of us, and it only cost him one spell slots. I've never seen Circle of Harmony used and in most cases it's not really useful. If you were in a battle where you were defending a location and the monsters besieging you had a lot of status effects it could be useful. You could throw down a Circle of Harmony and cure people in batches - making your cure spells from memory strech farther.

Manifold sounds extremely interesting, but I've never seen it actually used.

Hmmm.. Perhaps I should change that.

Manifold work well especially when there are spell store items involved. Imagine 4 9 levels of spell store and only 1 poison shield to a cast to fill them all. Just another idea.

I use to have Manifold as a celestial scholar with hopes to save spell when buffing for battles. In my experience for the year I possessed the skill. everyone was to anxious to wait for the spells to be manifolded. I had lines written for every spell, practiced my prose and carried all of the hand written texts with me. Only once could I convince the group to take the extra time for me to manifold protectives.

Its an awesome skill however I think people that have the skill may go into a cabin (their prepared hearth, mumble a little bit) and say they manifolded a spell. I have only seen on PC actually recite or sing their versus in game and now that PC has permed.

Just to clear up something I said.

Charm can not be empathed.... so that scenario above does not work with charm, but it would work with Sleep.

The effects this spell may transfer to the caster are Disease, Curse, Paralyze, Silence, Sleep, Taint Blood, Weakness, Wither Limb, Drain, Drain Life, Feeblemind, Hallucinoid, Intoxicant, Nausea, Paralyze, and Vertigo. No effect not on this list may be transferred using Empathic Healing.

I was going to use it on your every time you got drunk so it would go through my defenses I always have up....

How pissed to you think Nockmar would be if I just kept walking by and instantly making him sober?

Perhaps I should find another use for this skill if I don't want to find myself taking a nap in the woods.

I did see it used this past gather, as well, by someone entirely different. It seemed quite effective.

Empath or Manifold?

If it was manifold tell me who I want to talk more with someone who uses it. I think it will be a lot like what John said.. PCs just don't want to wait for that.. and while it would have it's uses, it's just not game friendly.

Is manifold the singing one? It wasn't a usual suspect. I'll point them your way, as I don't like disclosing people's skills on boards (especially OOG).
